Description
The primary challenge with the new Rail System Map was bringing it up to snuff with the other big transit systems, like D.C. Metro and New York. The coverage of TriMet's service was also quite difficult to encompass within a somewhat predetermined space. Readability and a generally faithful rendering of the geography were big pass-or-fail factors. The end result came from tweaking the layout of the downtown area and subtle text arrangements.
With the addition of new service lines and ongoing fare adjustments, the need for new TVM faceplates was obvious. This particular project was a matter of juggling aesthetics of the TriMet brand, adding new and larger rail map, and dodging the mechanical elements based on the factory's schematic.
